Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) was established in 1995 under the Gujarat Act No. 8. It was granted permission by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to award degrees as per Section 22 of UGC Act 1956. In 2009, the campus shifted to the village of Changa, a part of Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Samaj.
The University was recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Gujarat Government. In 2022, CHARUSAT was awarded with an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
